Massage technique for low back pain

Essential Massage Technique for Low Back Pain

This video discusses a relatively unknown contributor to low back pain called the Psoas muscle (hip flexor). Julia Trainor, LMT demonstrates a highly effective soft tissue technique to remove adhesions of the Psoas muscle. The psoas originates on the lumbar spine and inserts on the lesser trochanter of the femur.

Low back pain can be generated from many different sources which may include:

*Facet joints

*Intervertebral discs

*Subluxations

*Sacroiliac joints

*Weakened glutes

*Tight hamstrings

* Weakened abdominal muscles

As a massage therapist, it is very important that you analyze all of the related soft tissue structures of the lumbopelvic region in order to properly treat low back pain. The psoas muscles commonly referred to as the hip flexors can have a significant contribution to low back pain. Therefore it is essential that massage therapists evaluate the psoas or hip flexors in their overall assessment.
