How come I've never heard of subluxations before?

Yes, diseases such as cancer and heart disease receives a lot of attention and rightfully so. However, subluxations (nerve interference) are also detrimental to your health. Since the nervous system is the master system and controls everything in your body, it would make sense that your nervous system should be functioning optimally.

How do I know if I have subluxations?

You can have subluxations and not even realize it. Just like a tooth decay progressing for years until the nerve becomes exposed, you could have subluxations progressing till the point it causes symptoms. Only chiropractors can detect and correct subluxations. Our office is proud to have state of the art of technology to determine if you have subluxations.

Is it ok for me to "crack" my own neck or back?

First, it is important to understand that there is distinct difference in "cracking" your own spine and receiving a chiropractic adjustment. "Cracking" your spine involves stretching your joints beyond its normal range of motion to achieve a popping noise. Of course, this does not align the vertebrae in the correct position. In fact, it can cause an aggravation of an existing subluxation. A chiropractic adjustment is a highly specific maneuver to correct spinal subluxations. Our chiropractic physicians take great care and skill into adjusting your spine in the appropriate correction. We highly discourage anyone from "cracking" their own spine as this may cause further damage to your spine and nervous system. Let our skilled team of professionals make sure that your spine and nervous system receives the proper care it needs.

What can chiropractic help?

The majority of people that visit our office for the first time is due to some type of pain and it has affected their lives in some way. This maybe neck pain, back pain, headaches, numbness in the arms or legs, sports injuries or an auto accident. These are symptoms that are more likely related to your spine and nervous system. By determining if you have subluxations and how it maybe causing your symptoms, we address the underlying cause rather than just treat symptoms.

What causes subluxations?

Subluxations (nerve interference) are caused by our bodies inability to adapt to the three dimensions of stress-physical, psychological/emotional and biochemical. Often times it is the accumulation of these three stressors that lead to subluxations. A physical stress maybe sitting at the desk all day at work, car accidents, falls, poor posture, etc. A psychological/emotional stress maybe financial concerns, divorce, or failing an important exam. Biochemical stress are poisons and toxins in the environment and the bad foods we put into our bodies.

What is a subluxation?

Subluxations are nerve interference that interrupt the message between the brain and body. Think of your spinal cord as an intricate, super information highway linking your brain and body. Subluxations would be the road blocks along that highway preventing the travel of that message. So, imagine if that message was obstructed between your heart and brain? Or imagine if your lungs was not getting proper nerve supply?

What to expect?

When a person receives a spinal adjustment for the first time a response we hear a lot is that they sleep very well that night. Some may feel a great deal of pressure being released and/or instant relief. Others might feel a little sore or tired. These are all responses to your body undergoing changes and beginning to adapt. This is just the beginning of the healing process by removing the subluxations so that your body can heal itself.
